Okay...this really needs a better name, so if anyone has one, feel free to chime in.
As the current title would suggest, this is my second project I did for my Intermediate Illustration class, which I finally got around to photographing and processing. Hopefully I'll get #3 up soon...
Anyway, we had to do a piece that was a combination of something 'circus' and something 'politics'. My is saying something about medical care. Something about the drugs that are thrown at patients that may or may not work or may interact badly or may have side effects worse than the original affliction, especially when it comes to drugs to treat mental health.
Sorry that's so vague...politics is not my best thing--but I do have some fairly strong feelings about certain practices of the medical care industry.
Acrylics on illustration board...I don't know how many hours. Acrylics are occasionally the bane of my existence.
Technically it's great, you have a wonderful painting style, but its the strong imagery which really grabs attention and gets your point across very well.
I had the devil's own time with this, as I hadn't painted in quite a while and was very out of practice...so I'm all the more flattered by your compliment. Thank you so very much!
You're welcome. I've just realised what I find most special about the image. At first glances it has the appearance of looking down from above on a patient lying on an operating table. And then when you look more closely you see that it's actually a circus wheel. I love this duality.
Excellent combo of circus and medical imagery there. Very clever. Nice detail, too, like the way the light reflects down through the syringe into the spinning wheel.
