Another project from my Typography class...

Our latest project was to:
1) choose a font and research it, then do two font demonstration pages with dummy text and information about the font.
and
2) do a promotional poster for that font, that worked with the look and feel of the font.

Although this is not the type of project I would normally submit on DA, I really liked how this came out and thought I'd throw it up here, at least in the short term.

If you are interested in what I did and how I did it, keep reading. If you couldn't care less, that's fine, too. :)

My font choice was 'Vivaldi', a typeface that I have always really liked, due to it's super swirly-ness. Because the typeface's namesake was a composer, I decided upon a sheet of music as my design basis, but also wanted to include romantic, old-fashioned imagery.

I started off in Photoshop, making up some five-lined paper. Then I entered my text in such a way that it mimicked sheet music. This was the most time-consuming portion of the project, as I had to enter bits and pieces of text at a time, in order to place it randomly on the lines.

After that I just played with it...used the 'warp' function of 'transform' to curve the paper a bit, drew in some rose petals and shadow...made the table look like wood (this was the most annoying part of the project...I had no good wood texture and had to figure out how to do it myself.)

Anyway, once I got it polished up and bordered, both my boyfriend and I were surprised by something looking better than we had expected. Yay!

Hopefully, one of these days, I'll give you guys some REAL, NON-school work to look at...:)
